Marbled Fennec Networks (MFN) operated from 2009–2026 as a community game‑hosting
and early virtual‑exchange platform. Over time, MFN accumulated significant technical debt
and architectural constraints that made continued safe maintenance impossible. FenFox.run
emerged around 2020 as MFN’s networking division, but its design philosophy and long‑term
goals diverged sharply from MFN’s legacy structure. FenFox.run was rebuilt from the ground
up as FurrIX.zone in 2022, a standalone vIX shaped entirely by the lessons learned during
MFN’s run. With MFN now formally concluded as of early 2026, FurrIX continues independently
with a modern, purpose‑built architecture and no remaining operational ties to MFN.
Some legacy systems have been safely migrated into the FurrIX infrastructure, including the
now‑limited Games‑3P service and a handful of personal projects. But FurrIX is the surviving
project and carries the torch forward.
As our virtual internet exchange project moves onward, FurrIX won’t forget where it came from.
